Fantasies by Metric : CD released on April 14, 2009

Metric is a four piece band formed in NYC, based on various dates in Toronto, Montreal, LA, and London. Their fourth full length studio fantasies album is a lot to expect follow-up to 2005 highly appreciated LIVE IT OUT. Fantasy is written by the band in a farm outside Seattle, and front woman Emily Haines in exile in Argentina. The album was recorded in guitarist Jimmy Shaw own Giant Studio in Toronto and mixed at Electric Lady in NYC by Grammy winner John O'Mahony (Coldplay, The Strokes). A densely textured mix of modern psychedlia, electro and rock, this album is dream like quality remains true to the band and aesthetic while venturing into more accessible musical territory. In striking track''Gimme Sympathy''when sharp brass Haines cites the age-old existential dilemma -''Who would you rather be: The Beatles or The Rolling Stones''-this is because they already know her answer: neither.

The Hazards of Love by The Decomberists : CD released on Mar.24, 09

The Decemberists' The dangers of love, the follow-up of the group for 2006 breakthrough, The Crane Wife, which NPR listeners voted their favorite album of the year. With their fifth full-length album, the Portland-based quintet of Colin Meloy, Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, Nate Query John Moen and solidifies its status as one of the most innovative creative forces in music today.

At a time when singles line and the death of the album is marked by many, The Decemberists have fashioned an anomaly: a record that demands to be listened to from start to finish and reveals more with each subsequent play. The 17-song suite, with the band of the old producer Tucker Martine, who is rooted in the ancient language and images, yet completely modern and accessible.

The album starts when Meloy - long fascinated by the British folk revival of the 1960s - was a copy of Anne Briggs honored vocalist's 1966 EP, entitled The dangers of love. The hazards of Love tells the story of a woman named Margaret who is plagued by a shape-shifting animals, her lover, William, a royal forest, and a cold-blooded, lusty rake, which describes with spine-tingling ease how he came to home as easy and free. The debut solo album from a prolific new generation of Broadway Leading Ladies. Sutton Foster has wowed audiences since her star turn in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
