BHB, Ballas Hough Band ; CD released on Mar.10, 09

Anyone seen the hit TV series Dancing with the Stars even a cursory glance will tell the names Mark Ballas and Derek Hough. Since 2006, the two professional ballroom dancers and their celebrity partners led to victory in successive seasons, the trade in months of grueling practice and competition for a coveted Mirror Ball trophy. "I love to entertain people," says Mark, who have the crown on season 6 with Olympian Kristi Yamaguchi (Derek won in season 7 with Brooke Burke). 'See people laugh and enjoy themselves, that is what I live. "
But never has a public entertainment form for Mark or Derek. The two best friends are playing and making music together for more than a decade, between Touring theatrical productions and ballroom competitions. And like any performance they have crossed their collective to-do list, a career in music was a dream that they worked tirelessly to. "To play gigs in London, we had often to the Tube," Derek recalls. "We carry all our gear - amps, guitars, keyboards - down the mile long escalators and the train. For a while, we did almost every weekend!"

Mark and Derek's love for music was apparent from a very young age. Mark received his first guitar when he was seven, around the same time Derek began playing the drums. By the time they are in their early teens, the two had both mastered the guitar and began to write songs that exhibited their unique talents, three and four-part harmonies (a skill for Long years in the musical theater circuit) Mark percussive drilling, Flamenco-style game taste and a natural affinity with irresistible melodies.

Music of all types and genres filled the Ballas' London home, where Derek lived since the age of 12 years and was also an important part of their dance routines, so the pull was natural. The boys' musical band, but came from a seemingly unlikely place: a Korn concert in London's Wembley Arena. "Until that moment, I was not allowed to listen to bands like Nirvana," says Derek, who, together with his sister Julianne (a two time Dancing with the Stars champion), was raised in a very conservative household. Mark was determined to his friend in spirit. "I was like, 'Dude, stop a wuss,' and I took him to see Korn for his first concert," he says. "We threw him on the top of the crowd and it was like the transformation was made."

Although still years away from entering a pub legal conversion stirred hopes for a touring band and Mark went to the task of finding players to complete the as-yet unnamed project. He did not look too far. Harry Sullivan, whose parents are close with the Ballas family, was thought drumming and Emily Grace, a classically trained pianist and classmate of London's Italia Conti Academy of Theater Arts, is a no-Brainer for keyboards. They found their bassist Sam Marder, cold call Surrey the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music. "We call the school and sort out this story about how we were ever signed and bassist needed," says Derek. "They gave us three phone numbers and Sam was the first person we called."

Impulsivity means that they are good in the coming years. Case when the boys were offered spots on the U.S. version of Dancing with the Stars, she accepted, although they fear that the music would eventually take a back seat. "Moving from London to Los Angeles, where we do not know anyone ... We were just not sure," says Mark. "But then we thought, we have the meeting in England have been struggling. Forget it, let's just go. So we arrived in LA no car and nowhere to live, just a guitar and a suitcase. And since then we 's to work on our dream. "

Scream by Chris Cornell ; CD released on Mar.10, 09

Chris Cornell is a rock icon who thrives on contradictions. An innovator who resists genre labels, he was the main architect of the jaren'90 grunge movement. Often ranked as one of the best voices in music history, he has successfully maintained his own unique identity on more than two decades as a multi-Grammy Award winning musician and universally acclaimed singer, songwriter and lyricist.
Seattle trail blazers Soundgarden was one law for themselves, edgy, dark and deeply individual. Their savage soundscapes, coupled with Cornell's incisive lyrics and predatory roar, seduced audience hungry for musical depth and complexity while leading trends in street fashion and iconic design. In 1989, she became the first Seattle band to sign to a major label. Their sound continued to change and evolve in the course of five pioneering albums.

Celebrated side project Temple of the Dog had already shown Cornell's more soulful side and introduced future Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder to the world. Later, Cornell shocked the business once again with richly melodic, critically acclaimed solo album "Euphoria Morning", quickly recognized the alienation and despair. And as the millennium turned, that he together with three other musical pioneers from rap-rock of Rage Against The Machine to create Audioslave - a multi-platinum supergroup which lived to deny its opponents, the three best-selling albums, touring the world and to first American band to bring rock to Castro's Cuba.

Since then, Cornell has redefined his image and sound to new music, new collaborations and new activities. Contributed solo songs to movie soundtracks from "Great Expectations" to "Mission Impossible II" he was the first American male singer to write the theme song for the James Bond franchise in its most successful film to date, "Casino Royale" . His bold and bluesy reinvention of Michael Jackson dance classic "Billie Jean" courted controversy and attracted imitators. And his triumphant 2007 world tour brought songs from every stage of his career, the reinterpretation of it for new audiences and blending their original fire with the shock of the new.

Outside music, Cornell fronted fashion designer John Varvatos collection for spring 2006 and settled in Paris with his family, where he has helped to revive a historic restaurant, the stylish black Calavados.

Only the most confident would claim to predict exactly what is for Chris Cornell. Always eclectic, always experimental, his new collaboration with super-producer Timbaland - who calls their album "the best work I've done in my career" - will give him into fresh territory, establishing a new sound and marking the creation a masterpiece that breaks all musical boundaries. Only one thing is for sure - Chris Cornell will continue to break rules, history and challenge everyone's expectations.

It's Not Me, Its' You by Lily Allen ; released on Feb.10, 09

It's Not Me, It's You album
, is the follow-up to Lily Allen's critically acclaimed 2007 debut. The album finds Lily in top form, creating a record Blender's recent "In The Studio" feature described as "part God, part country and all middle finger." Allen wrote and recorded 12 songs in this album with producer Greg Kurstin (the bird and the bee), who worked with her on three songs for Alright, Still - "Everything's Just Wonderful," "Not Big" and "Alfie".

On It's Not Me, It's You, Lily's characteristically sharp observations find expression in a variety of musical styles, with influences ranging from Jazz to country and western to dance. Highlights include `Everyone's at It,' a synth-pop song about prescription drugs that features Allen on xylophone; `He Wasn't There,' which matches emotional lyrics about her absent father to a jazz groove; and `Not Fair,' a saucy country songs about an inadequate lover," said Rolling Stone.

"We decided to try and make bigger sounding, more ethereal songs, real songs," says Lily, who will be touring the U.S. in spring. "I wanted to work with only one person from start to finish to make it one body of work. I wanted it to feel like it had some sort of integrity. River of Time by Jorma Kaukonen ; released on Feb.10, 09

While USA was in the throes of rock&roll's dawn, his ears were elsewhere as a devotee of acoustic blues-men of the past. After relocation to San Francisco, he was one of the first to back another recent arrival (from Texas) named Janis Joplin. As founding member of Jefferson Airplane, he became pioneering architect of the guitar sound that became the genre Psychedelic Rock. His music became soundtrack of the Counterculture and the Woodstock Generation, it's accompanying lifestyle and philosophy influenced millions. At the height of Airplane's fame as the most successful American rock band of the 1960s, he walked away to play roots music in Hot Tuna. The following decades he forged his own solo career and continued with Hot Tuna, was elected to the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame and founded the Fur Peace Guitar Ranch.

RIVER OF TIME is the perfect distillation of the journey, some 50 years after he bought his first guitar.

This album is produced by Larry Campbell (Dylan Band) at Levon Helm's Woodstock studio, RIVER features Levon on drums and a cast of stellar musicians including mandolin virtuoso Barry Mitterhoff. Campbell also plays and his wife Teresa Williams lends her outstanding vocal prowess.

Six songs in this album are Jorma originals, a prolific showcase with themes of family, friends and inspired memory throughout.

The album also revisits the blues and country music that Jorma first fell in love with in his youth, featuring bright new interpretations of Mississippi John Hurt, Merle Haggard and Rev. Gary Davis...and pays tribute to old friend "Pigpen" Ron McKernan on the Grateful Dead's "Operator."
